The Audi Pop.up Next is a concept flying car designed by italdesign Giugiaro in join development with German automobile maker Audi and Giant Airplane Maker Airbus.


Pop.upNext is going to be an evolution of the first electric modular system, designed to help resolve traffic congestions.


Pop.up combines the flexibility of a small seater ground vehicle with the freedom and speed of a Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) air vehicle, this bridging the automotive and aerospace domains. The core of the product is therefore the intermodality and making it modular.


When flying, the weight of both modules is expected to be two metric tons (2000 kilograms ; this is 1/4 the weight of an average African elephant). As of March 2020, there is no battery technology available to power up the vehicle as intended and and connectivity technology has not been fully completed at this time which must be 150 times faster than 4G/LTE speed for autonomous like this to work. In addition, regulatory laws will be needed to make pop up Next be able to fly.
